PROTEIN DIET BASIS
- Appropriate contribution of high biological value proteins to protect muscle mass. Micronutrient supplementation to prevent any deficiencies that may arise. We provide calcium, magnesium, potassium, vitamins and all supplements necessary in each case.
- Take advantage of released ketone bodies as an energy source, their satiating effect, and the resulting sense of vitality.
- Restrict carbohydrate intake (bread, potatoes, rice, etc.) and fat to achieve weight loss quickly and safely, at the expense of fat mass.
- Dietary reeducation. The aim of treatment is to learn to eat correctly. The sole basis of the diet should consist of high quality protein.
- The body needs energy to carry out all its functions. The spontaneous source of obtaining energy is glycolysis, which is performed through the Krebs cycle and metabolizes glucose for energy. However, our body is only capable of storing several hundred grams of glucose which gives us energy for a half day of activity. If we suppress the intake of carbohydrates and consume all the glucose in the body, there is no sugar to be burned to obtain energy. In this way, the body activates another form of obtaining energy, called beta oxidation: The body obtains energy by means of fat accumulated in the organism.
Beta oxidation allows energy to be generated from accumulated fat, but leaves a residue. Ketone bodies, which produce a state of ketosis: Ketone bodies are the only substance in the body which produces the “remove hunger” effect. Seventy-two hours after beginning the diet, the concentration of ketone bodies in the blood is already sufficient to reduce hunger. In addition, ketone bodies have a euphoric effect which enhances the sense of wellbeing.
Once we have kick-started the beta oxidation, we get energy from accumulated fat, provided that we are not including it in our diet at the same time. In order to guarantee consumption of accumulated fat, we cannot consume either carbohydrates or fat. Otherwise, the weight loss process is interrupted.
