After treatment

  • The appearance of light reddening or inflammation in the treated areas is normal. This is a sign that the treatment was effective. This effect can last up to 72 hours.
  • Normal activities, physical exercise, bathing and washing treated areas can be carried out although care and gentleness should be used to avoid increase in inflammation and redness as a result of the treatment. Avoid saunas or very hot bath water for the 24 hours directly after treatment.
  • Some patients (usually those with dark or suntanned skin) may experience small vesicles or blisters which will disappear. Changes in skin color which normalizes after a few weeks occur in rare cases.
  • After several days, treated hair will easily detach from their follicles.
  • The patient may incorrectly interpret this fact and deduce that hair is still growing and the treatment has not been effective.
  • This should not be cause for alarm. Treatment has undoubtedly been effective and this simply implies that the rest of the laser treated hair must be removed and the only exit and elimination to the outside is the follicle itself, giving the impression that it is growing back when it is really just falling out permanently. Gently rubbing it with a damp washcloth can help hair fall out. Local hydration promotes dead hair falling out.
  • Aloe Vera gel or moisturizing lotions can be applied to treated areas.
  • If skin will be exposed to sunlight, a minimum SPF of 30 must be used (facial, all year long).
  • Let us know if you experience any side effects in the treated area; don’t hesitate to contact us for any reason.
